With over a decade in MotoGP, Marc Márquez has secured six titles, but since 2020, he has faced challenging times – both due to injuries and the significant decline in competitiveness of Honda. This year, he decided to embrace a new challenge and will represent Gresini – a satellite team – to ride a Ducati.
There have always been high expectations placed on the Spaniard, who, in statements in a DAZN documentary, emphasized the need to stay grounded: ‘When you achieve a lot, people expect great things from you, but you have to be realistic with yourself and those around you about where you come from and where you want to go. There must be a path laid out, and there will be obstacles, but it’s those moments that make you mature not only professionally but also personally’.
Márquez then admitted: ‘It was a year in which I had to make decisions that I may regret in the future, I don’t know, but they were all very carefully considered, very meditated, and above all, none were made impulsively, something else I learned’.
