Pedro Acosta makes his MotoGP debut this year after two seasons in Moto2. His transition to the intermediate category in 2022, following an almost perfect year in Moto3, was not easy at all, requiring several months of adaptation before the results began to show. However, in MotoGP, the Spanish rider from Red Bull GasGas Tech3 was among the fastest right from the preseason tests in Sepang.
When asked if he considers the transition from Moto2 to MotoGP easier than the jump from Moto3 to Moto2, Acosta denied it, although he acknowledged that he prepared differently:
– I don’t think so, but on the other hand I was quite focused on improving myself in areas that I will need for MotoGP. Also maybe the mistake I made in my jump from Moto3 to Moto2 was that maybe I was too focused on training with R1, to say one bike, but not in the proper way. It’s true that sometimes this pre-season I was not the fastest on track, but I was working on myself at this test. For this I’m also happy. Being faster doesn’t mean that you are going to win sometimes.
