Pedro Acosta finished the first day of MotoGP testing in Losail with the 15th fastest time. The Red Bull GasGas Tech3 rider is adapting to the premier class and was the one who completed the most laps this Monday in Qatar, with 73 laps.
The rookie considers the start of these tests to be positive: ‘It was super good. At the end, for me a question mark before starting the test was how fast we could be to adapt ourselves to this new track, to adapt also my riding for the MotoGP bike and these things. And it was quite nice, because after six days in Malaysia we finished 0.6s behind and now we are 0.8s behind. It’s not quite a lot. I see myself in 15th because everything is super close. But we have to be happy; at the end we are able to manage quite fast all these new things for me in MotoGP class. For this, I think it was more than a good day’.
Regarding the components tested, Acosta highlighted his satisfaction with the work done alongside KTM: ‘We tried one fairing, one thing in the clutch and something more I don’t remember. Anyway, it was good. It’s always good to try things, the things that we already tried were good – also the factory guys say more or less the same as us. For this everything is becoming clearer for the beginning of the season – talking about the bike, the engine, the chassis. I think we have to be happy about the way we are working with the factory team’.
