As the team principal of Trackhouse Racing in MotoGP, Davide Brivio will work closely with Aprilia – which, more than just a motorcycle supplier, is a true partner. The Noale-based manufacturer is one of those investing the most to reach the top of the premier class, where Ducati is currently the benchmark.
The Italian, who has extensive experience in MotoGP, believes that Aprilia is an ideal project to be involved with at this time: ‘I’m happy to have this relationship with Aprilia, to be partner with Aprilia. Of course now in MotoGP Ducati is very strong, they dominated last year’s championship, of course they are the bike everybody wants to beat. And I think Aprilia is in a great position to be a challenger of Ducati – of course in this moment together with KTM. But I think we can be one of the challengers, that’s also very exciting – try to challenge the guys who are stronger, who are dominating. So that’s why is good to be with Aprilia in this moment’.
Brivio then said: ‘We have seen also the 2024 bike, there was a lot of work on the aerodynamics. Actually from what I could see still a little bit from the outside, I can see Aprilia has been copied by the others, so that’s great. It’s already a good achievement, if you like. So I think with Aprilia we are in a position to be a serious challenger. We have to work in this direction’.
However, the Trackhouse Racing team boss is aware that reaching the top requires time, although he emphasizes his belief in Aprilia’s possibilities: ‘Of course it’s a long way because also Ducati arrived in this position after many years, so it takes many years to be in this position. So hopefully Aprilia is doing the same, is in the same process, in the same pathway, without underestimating the others – KTM. For the moment, Yamaha and Honda are, they are on their way to recover. We have to use the advantage maybe in this moment before they fully recover. But as I said, I’m happy to be with Aprilia, because I think now is one of the best places where you can be. And then the relationship is very good: of course I know well Massimo [Rivola, CEO] and it’s easy to interact and to talk to them. So, it’s good’.
