Having switched from Ducati to Honda, Luca Marini is going through a natural period of adaptation to the new bike he will ride in MotoGP this year. A process that has been ongoing throughout the preseason and is still ongoing.
The Italian was asked about his performance in braking, revealing that it requires a different riding style: ‘We are not so strong in braking, especially when we put the rear soft [tyre] new. We cannot use the rear tyre to stop the bike in braking, I don’t know why – while Ducati uses it a lot and they can gain a lot in that moment. So to try to make the lap time you have to ride in a different way and also for this I’m adapting, I’m growing’.
Marini assured that he is making progress in this adaptation: ‘On the last day in Qatar I was riding much more with the Honda style compared to the first day, so this is good. For sure on Friday I’ll try to do even more when the GP starts’.
