After being with Repsol Honda between 2013 and 2023, Marc Márquez experiences the second different manufacturer in his MotoGP career this year – specifically Ducati, riding for the Gresini team.
In an interview with the program El Hormiguero on Antena 3, the Spaniard spoke about the adaptation process, which involves automatizing the necessary style and way of riding:
– Each bike has its own style and its secrets to make it work. A bike can be very good, but you have to ride it one way or another, I’ve been riding the same style of bike for 11 years. Honda has a style, and now I’m switching to a bike where I have to make an effort in many areas of the circuit not to have habits from the other. In practice, you go calmly, calmly, but in a fast lap, the habits of the other bike come out. It’s something you have to automate.
And Márquez gave an example: ‘On this bike, to lower the rear device, you have to disengage it… it’s a different method. Many times I didn’t remember, I came out of turn one and the bike leaned down and I lost the whole lap. You have to automate everything’.
