Once again, Marc Márquez faced rookie Pedro Acosta at the Portuguese MotoGP. The two battled for fifth place for several laps until the younger of the Spaniards managed to overtake.
Then, Márquez spent some time behind Acosta (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM), allowing him to observe his riding style. After the race, the six-time champion from Gresini had many praises for his opponent:
– It’s nice to follow him, because he rides with that point of rookie. I don’t want to say unconscious, but he just rides using a lot the kerbs, using a lot the tyres, and he just did an amazing race. He was super fast. I already said before the Qatar race: he’ll achieve podiums and victories this year. And let’s see if he can fight for the championship straightaway.
Márquez added: ‘He’s one of the big names of the championship in the previous categories and he will be one of the big names of the future and the present. So he’s riding super good’.
