The year 2024 promises to be very different for Enea Bastianini and a good indication of what the current season could be was the Portuguese GP, with the Italian finishing on the podium. Jorge Lorenzo believes that there is still room for the Ducati rider to improve, since in the part of the race where he is strongest he is still not at his best at the moment.
In the former rider’s opinion, commenting on DAZN, he considered Márquez – now on a Ducati – to be the cause of a particularly difficult season for the Italian: ‘Last year, Enea was very unlucky in the accident with Márquez, for which Marc is to blame, because he acted out of control, causing a serious injury to Enea that completely destroyed his championship. What’s more, Enea wasn’t right with last year’s bike’.
The rider who seems to be showing that he’s in good shape, at least in physical terms, is Bastianini, who is also showing apparent growth with the Desmosedici GP24, although, Lorenzo believes, his best is yet to be seen. The Spaniard believes that Bestia will fight not only for races but also for the championship:
– Now he’s perfectly recovered, in perfect physical condition and on a bike that feels better: we’ve found a competitive Enea. Maybe he’s still not showing his true potential in the second part of the races, where he’s definitely the strongest, but little by little, finding confidence in himself, we’ll see a talented Bastianini who will fight for victories and certainly for the world championship.
