Last Monday, Yamaha remained in Portimão for a day of private testing following the MotoGP Portuguese Grand Prix. However, their plans were hampered by the adverse weather conditions prevailing around the circuit.
According to the MotoSprint publication, the new solutions for the YZR-M1 were tested only by the race riders, Álex Rins and Fabio Quartararo. The rain, coupled with strong winds, compromised the outlined plans. As it is well known, for the development of motorcycles, dry weather conditions are preferable and more desirable.
Nevertheless, Yamaha did not refrain from testing new ideas for their bike, such as a redesigned rear and small wings in the same area. The manufacturer now has over two weeks to work on and analyze the data obtained before the next round, the Americas Grand Prix in Austin.
The level of development concessions that Yamaha has access to allows for testing freedom limited only by the 260 tyres available for testing. Like Honda, Yamaha can test at any circuit on the calendar in private tests, as well as introduce two aerodynamic updates and develop the engine without limitations.
