With less than a month to go until the Spanish MotoGP, one of the big questions is about Dani Pedrosa – will the rider return to race as a wildcard at the Jerez round? KTM Motorsport Director, Pit Beirer, opens the door for this to happen, but as has always been the case, there will be no obligation on the test rider.
Speaking to the official MotoGP website, the Austrian stated when asked about the possibility: ‘I think so. Dani was already testing for us again in Jerez this [last] week. I feel like he’s getting ready for that’.
One thing is certain – whether there is a wildcard or not, it will always be up to Pedrosa to have the final say, with no imposition from KTM: ‘It’s always like, we have a commitment, we’ll never push him to do a race. The last call is on his side to say «I want to go»’, said Beirer.
With that said, the KTM boss emphasized that the «Little Samurai» seems well prepared for a potential wildcard at Jerez: ‘He looks pretty strong and fast again in the test this [last] week, I think he’s ready, he just needs to say yes and go there, we’re ready for him’.
