Marc Márquez joined Gresini in MotoGP this year and brought his personal sponsor Red Bull with him. Now, he’s being touted as one of the possible candidates for Ducati in 2025. Could the energy drink brand be a hindrance?
The rider’s relationship with the Austrians goes back many years, being beneficial for both parties. However, Ducati has alongside them… Monster Energy. And due to this conflict between the two brands, Toprak Razgatlioglu was already prevented from participating as a substitute rider for Monster Energy Yamaha in a MotoGP round a few years ago.
Until 2022, Enea Bastianini was also sponsored by Red Bull, ceasing to be linked to the company when he moved to Ducati in 2023. However, Márquez’s case may be more complicated, as he is even an ambassador for the brand.
The incompatibility between two strong competitors in the energy drink segment could, therefore, be an obstacle for Márquez to join Ducati in 2025. However, it is not unlikely that a solution will be found if both the team and the rider are willing to make the partnership happen.
