Enea Bastianini was unable to finish on the podium at the French GP, marking the second consecutive round this has happened. Next is the Catalan GP in Barcelona, which was far from one of the easiest races for the Italian last year.
At that time, a crash in the main race left the Ducati rider with fractures in his ankle and hand, forcing him to miss three rounds – including his home round in Misano.
Now back in Barcelona, Bastianini hasn’t forgotten that incident but assured that he is confident, aiming to compete for the top positions again:
– Unfortunately, I don’t have good memories of Barcelona last year, given the accident I had in the race that forced me to miss three more GPs. Despite that, I arrive at Montmeló serene and confident: race after race, I manage to be faster, and I am constantly improving. We have a good base from which to set the work for the weekend, and the goal is to continue fighting for the top positions.
So far, Bastianini hasn’t missed the top five in a main race, being the only rider to achieve this in 2024. Fifth places in Qatar and Spain were his worst results in the first five rounds.
