Several riders made a last-minute decision to switch to slick tyres just moments before the start of the MotoGP GP of the Americas in Austin. It was a highly controversial and chaotic situation, which Jorge Martín – who is at the circuit with Aprilia despite being injured – was asked about.
In an interview with the official championship broadcast, last year’s champion commented on the incident, stating that the rules are not easy to interpret:
– For sure, the regulations are difficult to understand in this situation. It’s a pity for the guys who were already with the slicks because I think they did the right choice.
With the unpredictable weather, Martín admitted that racing under these conditions wouldn’t have been a good experience: ‘I wouldn’t like to be out there today, because having this weather is so difficult for us’.
