BMW has presented its brand new model for urban mobility, the CE02. The brand unveiled this model internationally in Portugal, specifically in Cascais, and according to BMW Motorrad officials, this is not a motorcycle nor is it a scooter, it’s an E-Parkourer!
The idea is to be a very fun and easy to ride motorcycle. Let’s say it’s not a cheap motorcycle, but it’s not supposed to be. It’s an exclusive model with features completely different from anything else on the market. The most distinguishing feature is the high handlebars, inspired by the riding position of a BMX. The goal is to make us feel what we felt when we were teenagers riding BMX bikes. Marketing or not, after hearing this, while riding the CE-02, I thought about it and remembered the countless hours I spent on one during adolescence.
FEATURES
This is undeniably a model with a different and irreverent design. The reactions to its design were quite polarizing, either you love it or you hate it. In my case, I loved it. It has the front of a scrambler, with long-travel suspensions and in the case of the Highline version, which we had the opportunity to test, the golden fork and the tricolor seat stand out even more.
The concept is simply different, both aesthetically and in terms of riding. The fact that it is Keyless makes it ultra practical and easy to use. It’s sit and go, easier is impossible… And not only that, the fact that it is electric makes it much less intimidating to ride than a combustion motorcycle. This is a big advantage of the CE02. Anyone who has this CE02 as their first motorcycle will feel a sense of confidence like in few other motorcycles, because it is so easy and intuitive to ride. A factor that helps with confidence is the fact that it has 3 driving modes (one of them optional), which make it even more user-friendly. Interestingly, they even have stylish names: Flow, Surf, and Flash. The entire motorcycle was designed with the idea of putting the user in a young and irreverent spirit. If you are young, you have an exclusive and different motorcycle, and if you are an adult, the plan is for you to feel young. It is truly a fun model to drive! EXCLUSIVEThe plan is to reach more people than ever before, as it is the first model of the brand with the possibility of being driven by those who only have a car license, since there is only one version with 4kW and a normal one with 11kW, with the option to later upgrade the bike to 11kW. Both versions have common safety features, such as ABS and RSC (Recuperative Stability Control). The acceleration is truly impressive and will put a smile on the face of whoever is driving it, and a look of amazement on those who see it take off. The Highline version, for an extra 950€, has a more daring paint job, golden fork, an extra power mode called Flash, and my favorite extra, heated grips. In addition to various extras like a top case or side bag, and various seat heights so that anyone who sits on it can confidently reach the ground with their feet.
All models have reverse gear and a small TFT screen with basic information on speed, battery, charging, among other normal and basic motorcycle information. The Highline version has a phone holder with connectivity to control it through buttons on the handlebars and using the BMW app. Something unprecedented in the world of scooters that allows for basic phone controls without taking hands off the handlebars, greatly increasing safety.
As for the price, this bike was designed for those who do not find it expensive! It cannot be compared in any way to the normal scooters we see on the street. Yes, it is for those who want to go from A to B, but with exclusivity and daring. It is a model unlike anything we are used to and with a futuristic design.
