Luca Marini was the only Honda rider to finish the races of the MotoGP Americas GP. After finishing 17th in the Sprint race, he was 16th in the main race in Austin, coming very close to scoring points in a weekend where the Japanese manufacturer was clearly the least competitive.
The Repsol Honda Italian highlighted the determination with which he fought to be 15th: ‘I tried everything, did my best, fought for that last point like last year for the first place. So, I gave it my all. But at the moment we are facing many difficulties‘.
After the performance in Austin, and considering it was the track where Honda won for the only time in 2023, Marini believes it was an important round to make comparisons and gather data in order to improve:
– I think this weekend is very important for us, because last year Honda won the race with [Álex] Rins, while this year we were very far from everyone. So, we can compare the data and understand very well, it will be important for all the Japanese engineers to try to solve this problem as soon as possible. I will certainly try to give my feedback in the best way, because in my opinion the direction is very clear. But we need some time to prepare new parts.
