Marc Márquez leaves Repsol Honda to join Gresini in MotoGP in 2024, riding a Ducati. In the past, Jack Miller made a similar move, but between the satellite bikes of the two manufacturers when he headed to Pramac.
The Australian told the official MotoGP website that the situations are relatively similar, since the six-time champion of the premier class takes the step he believes is best for his career:
“It’s like the same. […] I went from being relatively well paid on a satellite Honda to basically almost not being paid to ride a satellite Ducati, but I could see that it was my future, I could see that it was the way to progress in this championship. So, it was almost a bet on myself. And what Marc is doing is obviously very similar in that sense, since he believes he can do well on that bike and he’s going there simply to try to do well.”
