About two weeks ago, Trackhouse MotoGP introduced itself to the MotoGP grid with almost no sponsors on its bike fairings. A similar situation occurred with Gresini, which, once again, lacks a title sponsor.
To what extent is this situation normal? Simone Battistella, an experienced rider manager, explained to Moto.it that not all expenses are covered by the satellite team itself:
– Only in part. A satellite team must cover about 50 to 60% of the necessary budget for a season; the rest comes from contributions by the manufacturers and Dorna.
The agent further said: ‘As a manufacturer, much of the budget comes from the marketing and development departments. It’s true that there aren’t many sponsors, but there are revenues’.
