Ducati’s decision to opt for Marc Márquez and overlook (once again) Jorge Martín ended up driving and motivating the rider to give his best and, ultimately, become world champion. Albert Valera was the one who guaranteed it.
Jorge Martín’s manager explained to Motorsport, as quoted by Motosan, how this stance became an opportunity for Martín to achieve something he always wanted, and that the Borgo Panigale manufacturer’s refusal ended up leaving the now #1 more relieved: ‘When Ducati rejected us, Jorge’s feeling was not one of being upset, but of calm, and that was what allowed him to face the rest of the season as he did.’
He explained: ‘Knowing where he was going in the next few years, that he would be happy, that his future was secure and that he had closed, for better or worse, his chapter with Ducati, was the real secret to the title he won. in 2024’.
The Spaniard will be with Aprilia Racing this year, where he will be joined by Marco Bezzecchi.
