Jorge Martín joins Aprilia in MotoGP this year, with Marco Bezzecchi as his teammate. In the past, the two were fierce rivals, battling intensely for the Moto3 title in 2018.
During the team launch, the Spaniard acknowledged that his relationship with the Italian had its rough period, but things are now on good terms: ‘I’m happy to have Marco. We battled for the 2018 title in Moto3 – we were fighting almost until the last race. And for sure, at that point and the following years, we struggled a bit. Now I feel we are good’.
While MotoGP may seem like an individual sport, teamwork also plays a vital role. Martín emphasized that it’s now time to collaborate with Bezzecchi for the benefit of Aprilia:
– I think it’s important for Aprilia, for the team, that both of us work together, trying to grow up with the team and the bike to be faster and faster. I hope for the best for Marco, because it would mean that it will be also for me. So, let’s fight together and then we will see what happens.
