So far, KTM has repeatedly assured the security of its MotoGP project for 2025, despite the ongoing crisis at KTM AG and the restructuring plan.
Last Friday, there was the first creditors’ meeting, where several measures currently in practice were presented. According to AKV, one of the measures included the termination of the MotoGP, Moto2, and Moto3 projects. The wording is unclear about whether all classes are included or only Moto2 and Moto3.
After this news became public, the KTM team provided new assurances about the security of the project. However, everything is now in the hands of the creditors, who will meet again in January.
At the moment, the creditors hold the power and could very well demand the irreducible exit from MotoGP, considering the significant expenses in the delicate context of billions of euros in debt to be repaid (which might even be partially forgiven under certain conditions set by creditors and entities).
On the other hand, there’s the image: KTM has always been associated with racing, and it’s part of its identity. Not to mention the financial penalties to pay to Dorna in case of an exit before the end of the contract signed until 2026, as well as the wages owed to pilots and other team members who may need to be laid off.
