The accusations, tied to an alleged incident at a 2000 MTV Video Music Awards after-party, have been described by Spiro as a calculated attempt to extort money under the guise of seeking justice.
The Allegations and Jay-Z’s Response
The allegations surfaced in a lawsuit filed in October and amended earlier this month, accusing Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs of drugging and raping a teenage girl. The lawsuit alleges the attack was witnessed by an unnamed female celebrity. Both men have vehemently denied the claims, with Jay-Z filing a motion to dismiss the case, calling it a “blackmail attempt.”
Spiro, speaking to reporters at Roc Nation’s New York headquarters, emphasized the inconsistencies in the accuser’s account, which he said undermine her credibility. Jay-Z’s legal team has launched an aggressive defense, filing a memorandum in federal court to dismiss the complaint.
