The situation at KTM AG is delicate, with significant debts. However, the MotoGP program remains unaffected, and Pol Espargaró – test rider – appears calm.
The Spaniard stated in an interview with Nico Abad: ‘We are experiencing it with a certain tranquility amidst the chaos that is expected. Because there is little we can do besides waiting and trusting what the manufacturer’s directors tell us – Mr. [Stefan] Pierer, Pit Beirer, Hubert [Trunkenpolz], all the executives assure us that it’s a situation that is being resolved. Obviously, it has to go through certain protocols, but it will be resolved’.
According to Espargaró, the promise not to affect the racing department is being kept, as evidenced by many new solutions for the RC16 during the recent Jerez test:
‘They told us something that is being upheld, which is that the racing team won’t be touched – that this is important, that racing will continue, and that the bike’s development will also continue. And I can guarantee this, which is why Maverick [Viñales] was also in Jerez to see the updates KTM brought – there were many, and they improved the bike’s performance’.
The #44 added: ‘So, the only thing left for us is to keep believing in the manufacturer, in KTM, and keep working. Because, at the end of the day, our job is to be on the bike’.
