Over the last two years, Jorge Martín and Pecco Bagnaia have fought for the world title until literally the last round of the calendar, but the relationship between the two has always been very friendly and cordial, something that the new world champion believes will be difficult to see in the future.
The relationship between the two goes back a long way and the riders were even roommates and enjoyed a strong friendship, with Martín even saying in the past that he saw the Italian as a brother.
Now, in an interview with Marca, the #89 said that he doesn’t believe that such a relationship, especially with a rival, is usual and that it will be difficult or even impossible to see in the future:
– It’s not that it’s an example, but I think it will be difficult to see something like that again, because what we experienced, me and Pecco, in 2015 and 2016, sleeping in the same room for two years and then fighting for Worlds in MotoGP is very difficult to see. To begin with, because the Moto3 riders no longer sleep in the same room as we did, each one sleeps in a different room, and then because it’s too much of a coincidence that it’s just like that.
He concluded, reiterating the idea that the future is unlikely to bring other similar situations: ‘In the end, you see very good riders, but one stands out more than the other and one arrives; the other doesn’t arrive. So, damn, it’s going to be very difficult to see this again’.
