Next year, Fermín Aldeguer will make his MotoGP debut, but the challenge ahead is daunting: he will replace eight-time world champion Marc Márquez at Gresini, following a season where Márquez competed for podiums and victories.
The rookie was asked by TodoCircuito.com about the prospect of replacing a rider like Márquez. Aldeguer acknowledged that the pressure is higher but emphasized that comparisons are out of the question:
– I don’t think about it. It’s true that it’s more exciting to sit on Marc’s bike, and it does bring more pressure. He is an eight-time world champion; there is no reason for me to compare myself with him. We will need to learn as much as possible from the Ducati riders and Álex [Márquez], who will be a great help.
As with any rookie, Aldeguer will need to familiarize himself not only with the MotoGP bike but also with the realities of the premier class and the team itself – whose scale and operations differ significantly from what he experienced in Moto2.
