With the first day of MotoGP testing concluded, already valid for the next season, given the contact of riders and teams with the new structures and bikes, Jorge Martín finished with the 11th time and already had some considerations to make about the new bike and a first perception about what you would like to see improved.
The Spaniard, crowned world champion this Sunday, remembered Aleix Espargaró and how he introduced him to the bike beforehand, as he explained to DAZN quoted by Motosan, before even going to the track: ‘I’m also very grateful to Aprilia because the first contact was brutal . It feels like I’ve been here a while, actually. I think having Aleix here helps me make everything a little simpler. I want to go to the track’.
And Martín thus had his first reaction and comments after the first laps with the RS-GP, although naturally there is some work ahead to make the bike «more his», but enough to immediately notice some behaviors: ‘At the front, better than the Ducati. I felt good in the corners from the start and I have a good feeling. Engine map settings are yet to be set. In corners like 12, in second gear, there is a lot of power when exiting, which makes the bike have the tendency to lift. We have to reduce this.’
More stability seems to be something that the rider «asked for» for now: ‘The bike lifts a little too much under heavy braking, we need to lower it more to gain stability. With the Ducati it was more immediate in the corners; Now I lose some time when entering a curve’.
