Aleix Espargaró said goodbye to MotoGP yesterday as a full-time rider and couldn’t have asked for a better weekend, he admitted. From the place where the GP was held, its competitiveness and even Jorge Martín’s title, everything went well, he considered.
Facing his last GP, the Aprilia driver – who will become a Honda test driver now in the next phase of his career – did not hide his happiness at the way everything went: ‘This Sunday I give it a 10 out of a possible 10. I feel like I’m a lucky person, really fortunate and I’m really grateful for what I did this weekend and it was impossible to dream of a better weekend.’
The 35-year-old Spaniard then recalled the elements he found that combined to make this an unforgettable, dream-like weekend:
– After 20 seasons saying goodbye (to the category) on «my» circuit, at home and with my family, many surprises from Aprilia and being super competitive, because I almost got pole position, I fought with the Ducati for the podium, Jorge [Martín] winning the title, which I helped him with a little bit, so 10 out of 10, and I feel like I’m really fortunate, a lucky man.
