Aleix Espargaró and Jorge Martín have a very special and deep relationship, and the Aprilia Racing rider emphasized again that he’s in constant dialogue with #89, and didn’t hesitate to admit helping his fellow countryman with whom he talks more than with his own wife, while acknowledging the pressure he’s under.
The #41 admitted once again that he’s very close to Martín, and that he’s happy to be able to help him when possible: ‘I talk more to Jorge than I talk with my wife, very very very much. I’m not happy to have the possibility to help him because I would love for him to be flying and being the fastest but it’s beautiful for me because I haven’t followed him in qualifying for the last three seasons and so one last time being able to help him achieve this title makes me feel very good.’
When asked if Jorge Martín’s apparent calm after the Sprint means things might be easier for him this Sunday, Espargaró said: ‘The pressure he’s dealing with is extremely high.’
And uncertainty about the future is another situation to consider: ‘He’s going to another manufacturer next year and doesn’t know what the future holds for him. He has a unique opportunity in front of him and I’m not saying he won’t have it again but you never know what life will give you and a good example is Joan Mir. It’s incredible to handle this pressure and try to be smooth, relaxed and today he did almost a perfect race, he was second behind Pecco, so he’s doing a fantastic job.’
