Álex Márquez proved once again last Sunday that Sepang is one of his favorite circuits and he was very competitive, but a mistake related to high tire pressure caused him to lose time.
The Gresini Racing rider told reporters: ‘Yes, it’s true that in one race I made a mistake and when I passed the finish line it was 0.3 or 0.2. The front tire was at very high temperatures, so I pushed for half the race and then tried to control it. I saw the podium very close, but Enea [Bastianini] had something more. So I was close, but our position was realistic.
Then he was involved in the crash involving Brad Binder, Jack Miller and Fabio Quartararo:
– I was in the corner, I think Marc [Márquez] overtook me. I was following the line and then I felt contact. I saw that his suit was on the front wheel and I saw that it was Brad Binder. Then he lost the line and crashed. I had nothing to do with it, I was ahead and it was impossible to control.
