Jorge Martín is competing for the MotoGP world title against Francesco Bagnaia for the second consecutive year. Despite the close championship and intense on-track battles, the two maintain a cordial relationship.
Throughout history, there have been many examples of rivalries between riders that extended beyond the track, leading to conflicts that became legendary, such as the recent feud between Valentino Rossi and Marc Márquez.
However, this kind of animosity isn’t happening between Martín and Bagnaia, nor does it seem likely to. In a press conference, Martín was asked how this good relationship has persisted, and he replied:
– We’ve known each other well since 2015. We were really close friends in the past. Now, we don’t have that relationship anymore, but we are good to each other. It doesn’t make sense… we can fight, it was an amazing battle for the history [in Sepang] – maybe not in the last laps, but it was amazing. And then, we can talk about it. I think we both enjoyed it. If it is like this in the future, for me it will be perfect. I hope it will be always like this.
