The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya was confirmed this Tuesday as the venue for the last round of the MotoGP season. And the designation of this Grand Prix is unique and tailored to the current situation.
The Valencia GP had to be canceled due to the tragedy caused by storm Dana last week. However, the name did not carry over with the move to Barcelona, despite MotoGP’s wish to support the region.
It will also not be called the Catalonia GP – which, as is known, already took place this past May. Instead, the final round of the year will be named the Motul Solidarity GP of Barcelona.
This is a way to emphasize MotoGP’s intention to support the Valencia region — soon announcing several initiatives that will take place throughout the event to bring aid to the affected communities.
