After the crash he suffered yesterday in turn 2 of the long race of the Malaysian GP, and in view of the damage to his bike, Fabio Quartararo took to the track for the restart with his second bike and with an engine that had already been used and wasn’t performing as well, but given the situation, the team worked very well, he said.
Asked about the second bike, which he ended up having to use, and whether it was possible to make it practically the same as the one he was using when he crashed, the Yamaha rider replied in the affirmative: ‘The team can make the bike exactly the same but the configuration for the wet is completely different so they had to change everything and that takes between 15 and 20 minutes.
Even so, not everything was in the same condition as his initial M1: ‘The engine was also a bit slower because it was more worn but we have to understand that in the end there was a spare bike, from the whole weekend, we brought an engine on Friday, this one was very old.
Despite this, Yamaha worked well, he said with conviction: ‘I think we still managed to prepare it very well.
