This was a memorable weekend for Celestino Vietti who returned to Moto2 after injury and won in Sepang. Naturally happy, the Italian recalled the physical discomfort he felt and how after a positive qualification ‘he had’ to try something more.
Here is the first reaction of the #13 in parc fermé, to the MotoGP microphone: ‘I didn’t expect this result. It was a tough weekend with the pain, but we managed it very well with my physiotherapist, whom I want to thank, but the team also gave me a bike with high confidence from the beginning and said that maybe we could do a good qualification and then we managed to do it, and then we had to try [a good race]’.
And he concluded: ‘Very very happy with that. Unfortunately it wasn’t an easy year for us but the feelings were there and I’m happy for me, for the team. Today we don’t have much to celebrate because we have to think about what’s happening in Valencia. I’m with them and I hope everything can be back to normal very soon’.
