Joan Mir potentially had one of the most bittersweet races of the Thai GP, as he felt very competitive during the first half of the race but then something happened to his bike that ruined everything.
The Honda rider admitted that he had fun… up to a certain point: ‘It was fun. I had a lot of fun until the last ten laps. I did 13 very good laps, where I had fun and was able to fight back and be faster, honestly, than the other riders I had in front of me, I was able to overtake them, I had fun because you’re able to overtake’.
The ability he had to battle with the competition, in most moments in better shape and with more competitive packages than the Honda, made him very happy, until he started to lose performance: ‘Fighting with guys who have a better bike than yours was fantastic, I left the Japanese behind and then something happened and we have to understand. I was losing 2s per lap and that’s not possible’.
Mir is 20th in the championship with 21 points scored.
