After winning today’s Sprint race, Enea Bastianini managed to avoid a problem that many riders faced in the race, the high temperature, especially when they are in a group. The choice of the hard tire for tomorrow, even for this reason, could be a choice for the long race.
Asked about the temperature, which Jorge Martín complained about, Bastianini clarified: ‘It’s better when you’re in front and you can push harder but it’s like that for everyone. When you’re behind you have to keep in mind to stay out of the slipstream and if the tire pressure is going up it can be a disaster. When you’re alone it’s not easy but when you’re behind you feel the heat much more. When you’re alone you have to stay focused and that’s what we have to be tomorrow’.
If he felt the lack of the medium tire, the Italian replied: ‘For me it can be a risk to use the medium on the rear because, until today in the Sprint, in the end I was pushing the front a little and when I started to push the pace the front moved a bit and possibly the best choice is the hard, and that will probably be the choice for tomorrow’.
With today’s victory Bastianini got closer to Marc Márquez in the overall standings, in the fight for third place and both are now separated by eight points.
