Yamaha has just launched the latest version of its renowned MT-07, which hits the market with major updates and promises to provide an even more immersive riding experience. Since its launch, the MT-07 has been one of Europe’s best-selling motorcycles, and it’s no coincidence. This model has always been recognized for its balance between performance and agility, with a design inspired by the streets of Japan and its “Dark Side”, a reference to the minimalist and functional engineering philosophy.
Now, the new MT-07 comes equipped with cutting-edge specifications that further strengthen its presence in the naked bike segment. Among the main new features are the radial-mount front brake calipers and the 41 mm suspension, which, combined with the SpinForged rims, guarantee an agile and precise ride, perfect for both urban challenges and winding roads.
Design and Technology: Simplicity with Purpose
The MT-07’s new compact look captures the stripped-down essence of the bike, with an aggressive, minimalist profile. The innovatively designed LED headlights not only provide efficient lighting but also reinforce the bike’s modern, bold aesthetic. The ergonomics have been revised, resulting in a more comfortable and intuitive riding position, offering the rider more control and mastery of the machine.
Another highlight of the MT-07 is the acoustic amplification technology that improves the intake sound of the CP2 engine, famous for its characteristic roar. This creates a direct, sensory connection between the rider and the bike, guaranteeing an immersive riding experience.
Enhanced performance
The 689 cc twin-cylinder CP2 engine, with liquid cooling and 4 valves per cylinder, remains the beating heart of the MT-07. This engine is synonymous with power and torque, offering 54 kW (73.4 hp) at 8,750 rpm, with a maximum torque of 67 Nm at 6,500 rpm. This configuration offers quick responses, ideal both for those looking for a sportier ride and for those who want a versatile bike for everyday use.
Efficiency is also another strong point, with an average consumption of 4.2 liters per 100 km, making it an attractive option for both performance and fuel economy. With a 14-liter tank, the MT-07 guarantees good autonomy, ideal for longer trips without the need for frequent refueling.
Connectivity and Innovation
The new MT-07’s on-board technology is also noteworthy. The instrument panel now features a 5-inch TFT screen, which offers a clear view of essential information while riding. Connectivity with smartphones via the Yamaha MyRide app is another plus, allowing riders to access navigation data and other functions directly from the dashboard.
However, the absence of adaptive cruise control and dedicated GPS navigation may be perceived by some as a limitation, but Yamaha has chosen to focus on the essence of pure riding, without technological exaggerations that could distract from the real experience on the road.
