Maverick Viñales and Marco Bezzecchi clearly have unfinished business and something to settle, as both have been trading accusations about each other’s behavior. While the Italian has criticized the Spaniard’s attitude, the truth is that the Aprilia rider also has something to say about his rival.
Following the crash in Saturday’s Sprint, Viñales told the press yesterday that, up until that point – when he spoke to journalists – the #72 had not yet apologized for the whole situation, without commenting on the penalty applied to the VR46 Racing Team rider: ‘No, he didn’t come to say anything, not even that he’s sorry. I mean, they [Race Direction] need to set a mark. They set the mark, so it’s all good. To be honest, I have nothing to say because, in the end, it’s up to them to decide what penalty to apply or whether to penalize or not. So I agree in any case, even if I have a different opinion’.
Viñales then recalled his reaction on Saturday and mentioned that he doesn’t hide on the track and understood, according to the penalty imposed by Race Direction, where the limit is, as quoted by Motosan: ‘I didn’t say ‘if they don’t penalize Bezzecchi there will be a war,’ I said something very different, I said ‘if they don’t penalize Bezzecchi we know what the caliber is, so I’m going after the others.’ I’m not timid on the track, I prefer to be the one to push the ‘bubble,’ that’s what it was, but I saw that the Stewards did their job and drew the line of aggression’.
And he sent another “message” to his rival: ‘I’m waiting for Bezzecchi to come and apologize, yesterday [Saturday] he told me he was going to the box, but I haven’t seen him yet’.
