Álex Rins finished the MotoGP Australian GP in 13th place, thus returning to the points. However, the weekend at Phillip Island was still very challenging.
The Monster Energy Yamaha rider spoke about the trouble he had while cornering, which left noticeable damage on his race suit: ‘We were struggling a lot to turn. In the end, my elbow on the leather suit was destroyed, because of trying to push to turn. It was so difficult’.
Although the situation improved slightly after the Sprint race, Rins admitted that the improvement wasn’t enough: ‘We improved a little bit, for example exiting from turn 2 to 3, turn 8 to 9. We improved a little bit compared to Saturday. But it wasn’t enough’.
With three rounds remaining in the season, Rins is 19th in the championship standings with 23 points. His best result so far in 2024 has been a ninth-place finish at the Aragón GP, which is also his only top ten of the year.
