Francesco Bagnaia finished third in the Indonesian MotoGP, with his main title rival, Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati), taking the victory. Now, they are separated by 21 points in the championship, with the Spaniard in the lead.
The Ducati rider said in a press conference: ‘We both did the maximum, and I think it was important for Jorge to win, because he hadn’t won since Le Mans and it was important also for his mindset. And for me it was important to gain points’.
Despite finishing the main race behind Martín, Bagnaia managed to close the gap to the championship leader compared to the distance before this round. The Italian is satisfied with the result:
– We didn’t manage to gain points, but we closed a bit the gap in terms of championship, by three points. We have 21 now, less than after in Misano. This is just a starting point, and we have to continue like this.
