Albert Arenas was the fastest in the first qualifying of the Moto2 Indonesian GP in Mandalika. Thus, he advances to Q2 and the fight for pole position, along with Barry Baltus, Darryn Binder, and Sergio García.
Marcos Ramírez (OnlyFans American Racing Team/Kalex) was the first leader of the session, with Baltus (RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP/Kalex) in second, Izan Guevara (CFMOTO Inde Aspar/Kalex) in third, and García (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro) in fourth.
The Spaniard would briefly take the lead before Binder (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) set the fastest time. Guevara also improved to remain in third, while Ramírez dropped to fourth. All these riders were surpassed by Arenas (QJMotor Gresini/Kalex), who became the new leader six minutes from the end.
In the last three minutes, the riders returned to the track, and there were many changes. Arenas and Binder maintained their positions at the top, but Baltus and his teammate Zonta van den Goorbergh climbed to third and fourth, respectively.
With his penultimate lap, García managed to secure a place in Q2 by finishing second, just 0.083s behind Arenas. Binder finished third, and Baltus took fourth, securing the final spot in Q2. Guevara improved in his last attempt but ended up fifth, just 0.011s behind the rival directly in front of him.
