Luca Lunetta is now the fastest man ever in Moto3 at the Mandalika circuit. The Italian set the fastest time in Practice 2 of the Indonesian GP, breaking the previous record established just yesterday.
David Muñoz (BOE Motorsports/KTM) led after the initial laps and even reinforced his position, but with less than eight minutes into the session, Lunetta (SIC58 Squadra Corse/Honda) took the lead and never let go.
On the following lap, the Italian set a new record of 1m37.384s, which remained unbeaten until the end. Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) improved towards the end but finished 0.266s behind. Filippo Farioli (SIC58 Squadra Corse/Honda) followed closely behind.
Rounding out the top five were Iván Ortolá (MT Helmets-MSi/KTM) and championship leader David Alonso (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar). In the combined results of both practice sessions, only four riders did not improve their times from yesterday.
Among them were the riders of Kopron Rivacold Snipers Team: David Almansa finished 14th and advances directly to the second phase of qualifying, narrowly beating his teammate Matteo Bertelle by 0.011s, relegating him to Q1.
