Ángel Piqueras started strong in the Moto3 Indonesian GP, setting the fastest time in Friday’s free practice. In his first time at Mandalika, the rookie clocked the best lap.
Initially, Iván Ortolá (MT Helmets-MSi/KTM) led the session but was soon overtaken by Daniel Holgado (Red Bull GasGas Tech3)… who then solidified his lead, but Ortolá regained the top spot within the first ten minutes.
Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) then dominated, taking the lead with 12 minutes into the session and holding it for 15 minutes before Holgado reclaimed first place.
Shortly after, Piqueras posted the fastest time of 1m38.799s, becoming the only rider to break into the 1m38s range. Tatsuki Suzuki (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) was second, 0.299s behind, while Holgado finished third.
David Almansa (Kopron Rivacold Snipers Team/Honda) and Veijer rounded out the top five. Championship leader David Alonso (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar) finished ninth, 0.997s off the pace.
