Danilo Petrucci was king and master of the Cremona round of the World Superbike Championship. This afternoon, the rider secured victory in the second race, taking all three possible wins in this Italian round.
Once again, Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Team/Ducati) had a strong start, immediately taking the lead, which he never relinquished. Early on, he was chased by Nicolò Bulega (Aruba.it Ducati), Andrea Iannone (Team GoEleven/Ducati), and Alex Lowes (Kawasaki), with Álvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Ducati) a bit further behind.
From the seventh lap onwards, Petrucci consistently held an advantage of over a second, even extending it to more than two seconds at a time. Behind him, the battle for second place was between Bautista and Bulega, as Iannone and Lowes lost pace (Iannone eventually crashed and retired with seven laps to go).
At the finish line, Petrucci won with a 1.023s lead over Bautista, who significantly closed the gap on the last lap, while Bulega was left behind in third. Garret Gerloff (Bonovo Action BMW) made a strong recovery to finish fourth, with Lowes in fifth and Iker Lecuona (Team HRC) in sixth.
