The Cremona round of the World Superbike Championship is turning into a dream for Danilo Petrucci. This morning, the rider won the Superpole race, adding this victory to the one he secured yesterday in the first main race.
Nicolò Bulega (Aruba.it Ducati) started from pole position, but Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Team/Ducati) had a stronger launch and moved from third to first. He also overtook Andrea Iannone (Team GoEleven/Ducati), who started second, and soon passed Bulega as well, just like Alex Lowes (Kawasaki) would do.
At the front, Petrucci quickly distanced himself, and by the third lap, he had over a second lead. Meanwhile, the battle for second place extended for much of the race between Iannone, Bulega, and Lowes.
It was only on the last lap that everything was decided, with a pass from Lowes on Iannone. The Brit crossed the line 1.797 seconds behind Petrucci, who was a comfortable winner. Iannone rounded out the top three.
Bulega finished fourth, and Iker Lecuona (Team HRC) continued to show good form to secure fifth ahead of two-time world champion Álvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Ducati).
