Pedro Acosta was the fastest in the second free practice session of the MotoGP Emilia-Romagna GP. In a closely contested session where the top four were separated by just 0.039s, the rookie set the fastest lap on his final attempt.
After the initial flying laps, Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati) led, followed by Raúl Fernández (Trackhouse Racing/Aprilia), with Acosta (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM) in third.
Marc Márquez (Gresini/Ducati) then moved to the top of the timesheets, 0.195s ahead of Franco Morbidelli (Prima Pramac/Ducati), pushing Martín down to third.
The lap times continued to improve, and Márquez was overtaken by Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha) and Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM). By the end of the first ten minutes, Márquez was back in the lead, with Martín in second.
In the final five minutes, Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) moved ahead of Márquez by 0.018s. The Italian had lost some time working with a different configuration on the Desmosedici GP24 but quickly returned to his preferred setup and was immediately fast. However, he was soon beaten by Quartararo by just 0.017s.
Right at the end, Acosta set the best time of FP2 at 1m31.451s, edging out Quartararo by 0.004s. Bagnaia finished third, while Marc Márquez suffered a late crash and finished fourth, with Martín completing the top five.
