Alonso López led this morning’s free practice session for the Emilia-Romagna Moto2 GP at Misano. With the track still damp, the session wasn’t highly indicative of the competitive pecking order.
Several riders remained in the garage for much of the session, but lap times gradually improved. Deniz Öncü (Red Bull KTM Ajo/Kalex) and Tony Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS/Kalex) were among the riders who spent the most time at the top of the leaderboard.
Arbolino was the first to dip into the 1m39s, but López (MB Conveyors/SpeedUp) surpassed his time near the end. The Italian improved on his final attempt but finished 0.115s behind the Spanish rider.
Manuel González (QJMotor Gresini/Kalex) finished third, followed by Somkiat Chantra (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia/Kalex) and Jake Dixon (CFMOTO Inde Aspar/Kalex) in the top five. The two top riders in the championship standings, Ai Ogura and Sergio García (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro), did not take to the track during the session.
