Ángel Piqueras was the fastest rider in the Moto3 free practice session for the Emilia-Romagna GP. Due to overnight rain, track conditions were tricky, making the session less indicative of true performance.
Despite the wet track, only five riders opted to stay in the garage for the entire 35-minute session. Piqueras (Leopard Racing/Honda) led for much of the session but wasn’t the only one to top the timesheets at various points.
Joel Esteban (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar), Matteo Bertelle (Kopron Rivacold Snipers Team/Honda), and Stefano Nepa (LevelUp-MTA/KTM) also briefly led. However, from the 18-minute mark until the end, Piqueras remained in control, continuously improving his time and eventually setting the fastest lap of 1m52.819s.
Championship leader David Alonso (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar) finished second, 0.258s behind Piqueras, with Nepa in third. Xabi Zurutuza (Red Bull KTM Ajo) and Esteban rounded out the top five.
