Jorge Martín once again defends his MotoGP World Championship lead this weekend in Misano, now at the Emilia-Romagna GP. The Prima Pramac rider holds just a seven-point lead over Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati).
Reflecting on the mistake that took him out of the top positions at the San Marino GP, the Spaniard stated in a press conference: ‘For sure now it’s a bit more interesting again. It seems that every time I gain a bit of advantage, I make a big mistake. I feel more focused when Pecco is a bit closer. I think I made the wrong decision; I thought it was the right one, but it was not for sure’.
That said, Martín draws something from the mistake he made less than two weeks ago: ‘The important thing is to learn from mistakes, learn from these bad moments. I think that as a team it also brings us a bit closer. So I think everything happens because it has to happen, so I think it will help us to be stronger in the future’.
This will be the second consecutive round at the same circuit. What are the pros and cons? The #89 replied: ‘The advantage is that you feel better straightaway, you have a base set-up that is already working, so you can work a bit more on the details. And the disadvantage is that it’s the same for everyone. So they are all fast, they are all feeling good, all of them tested on Monday after the race, so they will have a good feeling. I think it will be interesting to see the weather, because this will be also challenging. You have pros and cons, but in the end I think it’s more or less the same’.
