After winning the last two rounds of the MotoGP World Championship, Marc Márquez is now third in the standings, just 53 points behind leader Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati) and 46 points behind second-placed Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati).
When asked about his chances of fighting for the title at this point, the Gresini rider said that they have improved, but emphasized that he cannot afford mistakes if he wants to stay in contention:
– More than last week because I’m closer, but I still keep the same mentality: if I want to fight with these two guys, I need to don’t make those small mistakes in the Sprint, in the qualifying, in Friday practice.
Márquez’s strong form has boosted his confidence. Although he’s aware that some tracks will pose challenges, he is optimistic about finding favorable conditions in the upcoming Asian races: ‘This weekend I felt super good, just that mistake in the qualifying, it can happen. But apart from that, the confidence when you feel you are fast and you are close to them, is more, more and more. Will there be some tracks where I will struggle? Yes. But I can imagine, or I hope, that some races in Asia will be in rain conditions – then everything is more open and everything can happen’.
