Mattia Casadei secured the final pole position of the MotoE season this Friday, setting a new category lap record at the Misano circuit with a time of 1m39.856s. This strong performance means he will start from the front in both races of the San Marino GP, putting pressure on championship leader Héctor Garzó.
In Q1, ten riders took to the track to fight for the last two spots in the pole position battle. Among them was Garzó (Dynavolt Intact GP), who lived up to his status by setting the fastest time on his second flying lap.
At that point, Garzó overtook Nicholas Spinelli (Tech3 E-Racing), who had been leading. Spinelli improved his time to secure second place, 0.341s behind Garzó. Massimo Roccoli (Ongetta SIC58 Squadra Corse) missed out on qualifying by 0.145s, finishing third.
Spinelli was the first leader in the Q2, ahead of Casadei (LCR E-Team), who moved to the top on his second attempt, with teammate Eric Granado following closely behind.
From there, the front positions remained unchanged, with Casadei claiming pole position by beating Granado by 0.067s. Jordi Torres (Openbank Aspar) secured third place, 0.098s off the pole. Garzó will start from eighth.
