On a day when Toprak Razgatlioglu suffered a heavy crash, ROKiT BMW still led Friday’s World Superbike Championship action at the Magny-Cours round, with Michael van der Mark setting the fastest time.
All riders, except for Razgatlioglu, set their best times in the afternoon FP2 session. The session was briefly red-flagged due to the Turkish rider’s crash. Razgatlioglu, the championship leader, was taken to the hospital with a back contusion, leaving his participation for the rest of the round uncertain.
The best times came after the less-than-ten-minute stoppage. Van der Mark clocked the fastest lap at 1m36.010s, beating Nicolò Bulega (Aruba.it Ducati) by 0.149s.
Garrett Gerloff (Bonovo Action BMW) finished third in FP2, but Razgatlioglu’s best time from FP1 secured him third in the combined standings, 0.337s off van der Mark. The day’s top five was completed by Gerloff in fourth and Alex Lowes (Kawasaki) in fifth.
